Blockdot has a long history—some of which started before we adopted the name Blockdot. Here is a breakdown of some of the highlights:

05/1995
- Boxerjam.com, a Blockdot property, is founded by Julann Griffin, co-creator of television's Jeopardy! game show. Boxerjam.com launches as the gaming platform for AOL.com.


04/1998 - Blockdot founders
release "Good Willie Hunting"
recognized as the first political
satire Advergame.
07/1995 - NBC purchases Boxerjam.com game "Strike A Match," with the intention of making it into a daytime game show. 

04/1998 - Blockdot founders release "Good Willie Hunting," recognized as the first political satire Advergame (Good Willie Hunting is now a trademark of comMOTION Interactive).

08/1999 - Nielsen/Net Ratings reports that Boxerjam.com is the number one website visited by females the week of August 23-29, 1999.

1/2001 - Dallas FOX TV station interviews
Blockdot founders about the success
of  "Elf Bowling."


12/1999
- Blockdot's founders release "Elf Bowing," the first downloadable game to make it to the list of Top 10 PC Games installed. In just one month, it was installed 7.8 million times.

01/2001 - Juno launches game channel utilizing Boxerjam.com game shows.

04/2001 - Blockdot launches Kewlbox.com, a web gaming portal to serve as the platform for Advergame campaigns.


04/2001 - Kewlbox.com launches with
political games and fanfare.
05/2001 - Blockdot receives the "Marketers of the Next Generation Award" from Brandweek Magazine.

12/2001 - TechTV picks Santa Balls as one of the Top 5 holiday games of the year.

06/2002
- FHM Magazine picks two Blockdot games, "Sketchy!" and "Santa Balls," for their 100 Greatest Online Games List.

03/2004 - Our second office was a two
story walk up located across the street
from Fair Park, near downtown Dallas.


11/2002
- Entrepreneur Magazine selects Blockdot as one of their 2003 Best Businesses of the Year.

04/2003
- Blockdot wins DSVC Award.

06/2003 - FHM Magazine picks the Blockdot game "Fowl Words" for their 100 Greatest Online Games List.

07/2003 - Macromedia selects Kewlbox.com as the Site of the Day.

11/2003 - Kewlbox.com ranks in the Top 25 gaming portals on the Internet.

03/2004 - Blockdot featured in the book, Advergaming Developer's Guide.




03/2004 - Blockdot moves out of their old Commerce Street loft office (which was originally the parking garage for an old Goodyear Tire garage) into 2,900 Sq. Ft. office space near Fair Park.

08/2005 - Media General (NYSE: MEG),
communications company, purchases Blockdot.


11/2004
- Blockdot wins 2004 Ad:Tech Award.

08/2005 - Media General (NYSE: MEG), a publicly owned communications company, purchases Blockdot.

05/2005 - Conan O'Brien plays Blockdot-designed Skittles® game on his hit late-night comedy/talk show.

01/2006 - Blockdot releases first multiplayer Advergame for Post® cereal's Postopia.com.

04/2006 - "Flip the Mix," an Advergame built for
M&M's, reaches 50 million game plays,
making it the most played Advergame ever.


01/2006 - Blockdot takes over 15,000 Sq. Ft. in the Campbell Centre, a Dallas landmark featured in the 70s hit television show "Dallas."

04/2006
- "Flip the Mix," an Advergame built by Blockdot for M&M's, reaches 50 million game plays, making it the most played Advergame ever.


07/2006
- Blockdot completes their 500th game!

08/2006 - Blockdot releases the first game to utilize Yahoo! Map technologies with Find the Pink Spoon, an Advergame for Baskin-Robbins. This game became a Webby Awards finalist.


01/2006 - Blockdot moves
into a Dallas landmark that was
featured in the 1970's
CBS show "Dallas."
10/2006 - Version 4.0 of Kewlbox.com launches with robust community features, including avatars, a Kewl Kredit reward-based system, and a "My Kewlbox" section.

10/2006 - Blockdot releases game for Universal Pictures' "Let's Go to Prison," featuring in-game video streaming.

05/2007 - Blockdot wins 2007 Summit International Award.

05/2007 - Blockdot wins 2007 Internet Advertising Award.

07/2007 - Blockdot's wildly popular "Chicktionary" game helps boost the market share of Microsoft Live Search.



10/2007 - A movie crew filmed the Blockdot
team for a documentary covering the
production of Doritos' Unlock
Xbox promotion.
08/2007 - Blockdot finished production of 450+ online games for a single client - Egglad.com.

10/2007 - Blockdot wins the Adweek 2007 Buzz Award.

10/2007 - Movie crew films the Blockdot team for a documentary covering the production of Doritos' Unlock Xbox.

11/2007 - Blockdot wins 3 International Academy of Visual Arts W3 Awards.

in Second Life.

02/2008 - "Now You Know Better! $1,000,000 Game Show" launches, allowing players to compete in live trivia battles against celebrities Gary Coleman (Arnold from "Diff'rent Strokes"), Dustin Diamond (Screech from "Saved by the Bell") and Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth ("The Apprentice").

03/2008 - Blockdot opens office in Austin, TX!

05/2008 — A Blockdot gaming center is opened in Second Life, a 3-D virtual world popular with millions of users.
